Room 108
Challenge
Developing a horror escape experience built around tension and psychological pressure, while creating a confined environment capable of maintaining a constant sense of danger and connecting player behavior directly to the enemy’s actions.
Objective
To create an original horror game that combines exploration, puzzle-solving, and stealth, placing the player in an experience where careful movement, observation, and risk management are essential to survival.
PG Studios Solution
Room 108 was created and developed as a horror escape experience set entirely inside a mysterious room filled with hidden secrets and puzzles. The game’s core mechanic is built around sound as a threat. A hostile entity can detect the player through the sounds they make, turning every movement into a strategic decision and making exploration and puzzle-solving part of an ongoing suspense-driven experience.
Production Approach
- The game was developed through an integrated workflow that included:
- Game concept and horror experience development.
- Room and environment design.
- Exploration and interaction system development.
- Puzzle and logic design.
- Sound-based detection and tracking system development.
- Enemy behavior and entity design.
- Visual asset and game element development.
- Challenge progression and level design.
- Gameplay testing and balancing.
- Performance and atmosphere optimization.
Results & Impact
- The project resulted in a horror escape experience built around tension, sound, exploration, and puzzle-solving, creating a gameplay loop that keeps players constantly alert and engaged. The concept also provides a scalable foundation for additional rooms, levels, puzzles, and entities.
