Revalon
Challenge
Developing a physics-based arcade game with a concept that is easy to understand but challenging to master, while building evolving worlds and escalating hazards that make momentum control and precision essential to player progression.
Objective
To create an original game combining physics, arcade action, exploration, and challenge, delivering a cinematic gameplay experience built around timing, precision, and movement control with strong replayability.
PG Studios Solution
Revalon was created and developed as a physics-based arcade game in which the player controls a living planet and launches it upward through a series of changing worlds. The gameplay centers on launching the planet and controlling its momentum and trajectory while navigating platforms and hazards. As the player progresses, the environments and challenges evolve, requiring constant adaptation and increasingly precise movement to reach greater heights.
Production Approach
- Game concept and core gameplay development.
- Physics, movement, and momentum system design.
- Launch and trajectory control development.
- Platform, obstacle, and hazard design.
- Changing world and environment development.
- Living-planet character and visual identity development.
- Progression and altitude-scoring system design.
- Visual asset and effects development.
- Physics and difficulty testing and balancing.
- Player experience and performance optimization.
Results & Impact
- The project resulted in a physics-based arcade game with a distinctive visual identity, combining accessible mechanics with escalating challenge. Its movement system and evolving environments provide a scalable foundation for additional worlds, hazards, and levels.
